Hello Friends,

Is it just us, or does it seem as though July has been declared 'the month that all are on vacation', or 'the month where leisure and relaxation are of the utmost priority.'

Anyway, that's the philosophy around here (and oh my, we worry that August will be a busy bear of a month!)

For July we can offer one terrific song camp, Cedar Run in Madison, VA. And one terrific evening of live music at The Living Room in NYC. All juicy details below.

In the meantime, we are wishing you all a pleasant summer break. See you at camp!

Sincerely,
The Sloan Wainwright Team

This Just In:

Sloan Wainwright Š- youngest sister to folk-icon Loudon Wainwright -- invited to perform at this yearÕs prestigious Newport Folk Festival. Festival organizers have assembled the Wainwright Women for a special shared performance on Saturday, August 04. Sloan will perform with her much-loved nieces Lucy Wainwright Roche (daughter of Loudon Wainwright and Suzzy Roche) and Martha Wainwright (LoudonÕs daughter, RufusÕ sister). She'll be bringing her spectacular contralto and her trusted guitar-player Stephen Murphy, and will be performing songs from her current critically acclaimed CD "Life Grows Back".

The Newport Folk Festival is an American institution and remains one of the longest running music gatherings in the country. Early on in the 60Õs it defined the folk boom and became the central event for the folk world. It was where Joan Baez became a star and Bob Dylan went electric in one of the most infamous gigs in music history. A combination indoor and outdoor event, the festival takes over the entire resort town of Newport, Rhode Island for three days in early August. The festival maintains its success, integrity and popularity by bringing contemporary, often chart-topping performers together with other extraordinary musicians carrying forward the tradition of folk music.
