Hello Friends,

This Just In!

Sloan is home today after a whirl of a weekend performing with family at The Newport Folk Festival.
She has some thoughts she'd like to share - read on and enjoy!

Thoughts on Newport.

The site at Fort Adams State park is just stunning.....surrounded by water....watching the boats go by....we were all well taken care of by the fabulous staff. Very artist friendly.

Harbor Stage, where we performed, had a lovely view of the water from stage....

On stage I was flanked by my two beautiful and talented neices, Martha and Lucy.
The songs were wonderful....all of us singing together was sublime.
The high point : The three of us singing I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry in harmony.
The audience was fabulous and generous.
The root beer floats....delicious.

If any of you happened to be at Newport, send us your show reviews, we'd love to hear Your thoughts, and see your bootleg video (c'mon, someone out there has a few minutes of video on a cell phone right?)

And if you were there, you may have noticed Sloan in a cast, on crutches, hopping and hobbling around. (what a trouper!). It wasn't just for show, she truly did 'break a leg'. Or more accurately, an achilles tendon. Ouch.

Due to the injury... Sloan has had to change her plans and she will not be at Summersongs or SAMW this year. We are so sorry to disappoint! The good news is the injury is healing well and after another month or so of total inconvenience, Sloan will be able to run around as usual.

Whew!

Sloan does plan to make it to the Warwick Valley Winery for the Johnny Cash Tribute ( with a lot of help from her friends ) Thats on Sunday Aug 12. Details on the Tour page.

Enjoy the dogs days of summer. You'll be hearing from us again soon.

Sincerely
The Sloan Wainwright Team
